The ERS Interferometric Quick Look Processor: a Powerful System to Assess and Exploit the ERS Tandem Archive for Land-Use Information Retrieval

چکیده

The ERS Interferometric Quick Look processor developed by ESA has made it possible to examine the interferometric coherence of ERS data for land-use applications on a world wide scale. Many successful interferometric studies have been focussed on relatively small regions of terrain. This is partly because of the localised nature of some of the areas of interest but also because of the relatively high processing load required by interferometry. The Interferometric Quick Look system has been designed to rapidly process complete strips of ERS SAR data and many examples, covering a wide range of land surfaces, have been processed at ESRIN. Some of these can be viewed at: http://earth1.esrin.esa.it/INSI In this paper we describe the Interferometric Quick Look system, show examples of how its output is relevant to land classification, and discuss the use of the system to assess ERS Tandem data for land-use exploitation.

This paper presents one of the interferometric related applications that has recently attracted more interest from the scientific community. The objective is to exploit the coherence information derivable from a couple of ERS SAR images to evaluate land surface characteristics and its changes. An area located in Patagony has been selected for this work. Results should provide information about ...

Monitoring of Deforestation in Tropical Rain Forest Areas by Using Insar - Comparison between L-band and C-band Sar -

ABSTRACT: The author compared the capability of coherence information obtained from interferometric SAR (InSAR) by C-band SAR of ERS-1 and 2 and by L-band SAR of JERS-1 for the purpose of monitoring the changes of tropical rain forest due to deforestation. The test site was a southern part of Sumatra Island with 50 by 50 kilometers coverage. The several repeat-pass interferometric data pairs by...

Geomorphological Mapping with Respect to Amplitude, Coherenceand Phase Information of Ers Sar Tandem Pair

Radar interferometry is a technique which makes use of interfered signal of two radar echoes for topographic elevation and terrain element mapping. ERS Synthetic Aperture Radar (SAR) tandem pair with minimum possible temporal baseline of 1-day and with precise orbit control to obtain suitable interferometric spatial baseline is appropriate for interferometric study in terrain analysis. In this ...

Information Mining via Coherence Estimation from Multi-look Incoherent Sar Imagery

In this work, an application of “browsing by coherence” is presented. An interferometric pair of single-look complex (SLC) ERS-1/2 Tandem images is multi-look processed and the resulting real-valued images are further compressed through a hierarchical method to yield quick-looks that may be browsed at different spatial resolutions, i.e. number of looks. Pairs of quick-look icons are utilized to...
